RAIN JACKET CARE GUIDE

Hardshells Care Instructions

Wash

  1. Treat stubborn stains with undiluted Tech Wash® and a sponge or soft brush before washing.
  2. Close all zippers, fasten all flaps and straps, and release tension on elastic drawcords.
  3. Use a mild liquid detergent, pH neutral, or a technical wash specifically formulated for waterproof garments like Nikwax Tech Wash®. Note that conventional detergent could damage the water repellency of your garment.
  4. Machine wash cold, and rinse twice to make sure no detergent remains on the jacket, as it could lead to loss of its functionality.

Dry

  1. Line dry in shade, or tumble dry low heat to speed the process and renew the fabric's durable water repellent (DWR) finish.

How can I test waterproofing of my shell ?

  1. Test the water repellency of your garment. If the water doesn't bead off the surface, you can use a waterproofer like TX.Direct® Wash-In.
  2. Use the product in a washing machine or by hand, by following the detailed instructions on the bottle. Nikwax TX.Direcft® treated clothing needs no heat to develop Durable Water Repellency (DWR). You can line dry your garment, or tumble dry low heat to speed the process.

A few mistakes to avoid when caring for all your clothes

• Do not squeeze by hand

• Do not overheat, as it could damage the fabric.

• Do not use bleach, as it would fade colors and damage DWR coating.

• Do not use fabric softener, as it would clog the pores of the fabric and damage DWR coating.

• Do not iron, as it may damage the fabric, potentially melting it.

• Do not dry clean, as it could damage the technical features of the garment.
