Those kinds of things you say and keep in the back of your mind until a chance to actually realize them comes. Well that happened this fall when we had the opportunity to head fo the Baie-des-Chaleurs to shoot a TV episode. J-P was one of the first guys we contacted and we didn’t have to pray him to come with us.
He’s been fishing the area for nearly ten years, basically moving from his home in northern Mauricie to Gaspésie every summer, but officially moved in full-time with his wife and kids last year. He welcomed us like we were family, and brought us to his favorite spots on the Bonaventure River. While the water was low and the fish tough to catch, the fall colours and J-P’s unwavering enthusiasm made this trip one of the coolest, smoothest of the summer. On our last night on the Grande Cascapédia River (an evening sponsored by Bière Boréale) J-P pulled out his guitar, and, with the fire roaring, performed the most epic unannounced concert we’ve ever witnessed: “J-P Tessier Live by Dump Pool”, which became the soundtrack to this video.
