To end the atlantic salmon fishing season in Quebec, Derek hits the road towards New Richmond to meet up with JP Tessier, fly-fishing guide and Hooké tribe member. During their canoe float and camping adventure, they discover the magnificent Cascapedia and Bonaventure river. The gin clear water of the Bonaventure, the majestic salmon of the Grande Cascapedia, the last nights of camping outdoors and the mornings where we light a fire to melt our waders is what make’s this Fall fishing adventure incomparable to anything else.
Gaspésie : Salmon fishing
People We Met: Jean-Philippe Tessier
We’ve known JP for a few years. We met up with him a a couple of times by the river and in several fishing events. With great guiding experience on the Bonaventure and Cascapedia, he greated us just like family and brought us to his favorite fishing spots. Even though the water was low and the fishing conditions were hard, the magnificent sceneries and the fall colors mixed with JP’s constant enthusiasm made this trip one of our season’s best. On our last night out on the Cascapedia, JP took out his guitar and improvised the most epic concert by the river, which became the soundtrack of this clip.

HOOKÉ X ABITIBI & CO
Fly Fishing and canoeing has always been a natural fit. But what really brings Hooké and abitibi & co. together is our passion for the river, our dedication to give those rivers a voice and the good vibes of being surrounded by nature.
